Beauty Creations Long Wear Matte Lip Gloss

I wish I could remember which subscription box I got this lippie from, but unfortunately I can’t. I do remember being excited over it because it’s a matte lip gloss. That had me intrigued from the very start. How can something be matte and a gloss at the same time?

Pictured Shade: Kiss me

As soon as I opened it i was overwhelmed how good it smelled; it was a bit fruity and a lot sugary. The consistency was liquid (of course) but more gel like a lipgloss instead of creamy liquid like a lipstick. The gorgeous color applied same as it was in the tube. One dip and my lips were covered. There was no need for another layer. After applying I noticed that as it dried the gorgeous scent slowly turned more harsh, as if I painted my lips with melted plastic. It did turn matte. The gel lipgloss actually dried matte. I was shocked! Well, maybe not shocked but amazed. I kept waiting for it to dry enough to stop being tacky, but that moment never came. Instead, my lips felt like they had a layer of glue. It wasn’t a stringy, gooey sticky but a dry sticky. I was able to remedy that with some setting powder, but that made the gorgeous color lose its intensity. Throughout the day I noticed that the waterline of my lip became more and more defined. I most definitely should not have “fixed it” by adding more and more layers to cover what was exposed. Even though I tried to get the product only on the parts that were showing through, some still got on the original layer. Piling up of the product made my lips feel trapped, for lack of a better word. I was ready to give up on this lip gloss and say it’s not for me, but an idea dawned on me. As soon as I got home I wiped my lips clean and applied one fresh layer. After waiting until it was dry, I bring out the holo glitter and BOOM!

This lip gloss worked amazing as a base, and the glitter not only helped with stickiness but also stayed on through a hand-kissing transfer test!

So let’s get to the overview

  • Price: 4.99$
  • Formula: liquid gel, drying on the lips, matte, dry-sticky, plastic smell after dried
  • Longevity: 6hr+, had to reapply on the lip waterline
  • Blendability: stays put once dried, no smudging
  • Pigment: only one layer needed for full lip coverage, 66 shades
  • Bonus: amazing as a base for a glitter lip, cheap
  • Cons: very drying, sticky

I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to repurpose this lip gloss as a glitter lip base. It works wonderfully! I don’t know if I will wear a glitter lip to anything other than a party or dress up, but this will be definitely something I will reach for again… maybe not any time soon though.
