As promised, I am writing this review on my favorite Ipsy item this month. One of the reasons why it was my favorite is because it was a full-size item that covered and exceeded the cost of the Glam Bag. The name of this lipstick is very contradicting. Creamy is usually moisturizing and in my experience, any matte lipstick is drying. I’ll get more on that in a moment. For now, I want to take a moment to look a the gorgeous packaging. The beige colored, bullet-shaped tube looks very classy, especially with a gold inside. Brand’s name is etched on the front of the actual lipstick. For some reason, this seems to add to the luxurious feel.
First things first, I know I am using pictures from this month’s Ipsy unboxing but now I am able to give more detail. Such as this swatch below. The pigment came off wonderfully smooth in one stroke and the same happened when I applied it on my lips. The consistency of this lipstick was very velvety and buttery at the same time. It stayed on like a balm but it also had a matte finish. Unlike other matte lipsticks, this one was not drying my lips to a point of patchy flakes. It was nice and smooth with the slowest drying time. It was just a dream. After the first try on I wiped off the product and noticed that my lips were stained. It was pretty sheer but added a point into my books. The stain was difficult to remove with wiped and makeup removing oil. It is safe to say that it had a pretty good lasting time, even if the creaminess of this lipstick went away halfway through the day. Fading was not so bad. The only difference was the way this product felt on the lips. It went from a smooth balm to a smooth dry. Still, it was a very comfortable wear. I only applied a second layer to see how it would come out. It looked and felt just as wonderful as the first coat. This lipstick was a win in my book.
So let’s get to the overview
- Price: 15$
- Formula: Creamy, not very moisturizing but not drying, comfortable to wear, transferable
- Longevity: 6hrs before the color starts slightly fading
- Blendability: applies opaque in one swipe, no feathering
- Pigment: intense, 10 shades
- Bonus: acts as a stain after wiping off
- Cons: difficult to remove all pigment
This is another thing that I have to add to my holy grail list. This lipstick has such a nice formula and lasting power that I just need to have it as a staple in my makeup routine. The color might not be an everyday thing but I do plan on expanding this collection of one so that I could find a shade for every look.
