Here is another item that came in a subscription box. I was so in love with it that I could not help myself but get more shades. Of course, I had to wait for a sale because even though the price was low there were too many shades to choose from. As soon as I noticed that price drop I filled my virtual cart with mauves, nudes, pinks, reds, even a purple. A few days later they arrived at my door and I could not help myself to not try them right away. That is a quick story of how I ended up with twenty (!) liquid lipsticks. Shade Desire was the one that started it all. I am very happy that it did because now I have a lipstick color for any occasion and any look.
I soon came to realize that each shade had slightly different properties such as drying speed or pigment. What they did have in common was matte finish, creamy consistency, and dry lips. The initial swipe of the dofa gave me a very good pigment payout except for the shade Sugar Coated. On a swatch, it seemed beautiful but unfortunately, on the lips, it came patchy. In this case, I had to quickly apply a second coat in that odd stage when a product is not fully dry but sticky enough to not move around.
Once these lipsticks dry they are non transferable… until lunch or dinner. While eating the color starts fading away from the waterline of the lips, leaving that odd-looking “mustache lip” as I like to call it. The only way to fix that is to take the lipstick off completely and reapply on a clean surface of the lip. If the product is not wiped off completely there will be a half dry gunky feeling on the lips. The dryness of the lips can be fixed at the sacrifice of the matte look with either a chapstick or even a clear balm or gloss.
So lets get to the overview
- Price: $6
- Formula: thick and creamy, dries matte, drying on lips, nontransferable
- Longevity: 4-6hr, fades with eating
- Blendability: non-feathering, easy to create a gradient lip
- Pigment: lips were coated with one swipe except for shade Sugar Coated, 31 shades
- Bonus: drugstore brand, great shade selection
- Cons: very drying
This lipstick started out amazing. I got it when I was not very experienced with many liquid lipsticks. It seemed to be the most amazing thing I came across so far. It is still a very good drugstore lipstick. I would recommend this to anyone on a budget, but for a few pennies more there are better options.
